New Jersey Attorney Verna J Chan
Verna obtained her Juris Doctorate and Certificate in Family Law from Rutgers Law School. During law school, Verna served as an Associate Editor for the Rutgers Law Record and was involved in several pro bono projects where she was awarded the Rutgers Pro Bono Publico Award. Verna was also a student attorney within the Rutgers Community & Transactional Lawyering Clinic, representing alleged incapacitated persons and plaintiffs in adult guardianship proceedings. Verna interned for the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office in the juvenile unit, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General in the Division of Children and Families, and a boutique law firm specializing in estate planning.
Verna served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Kimarie Rahill, J.S.C., of the Ocean County Superior Court of New Jersey, working on matters in both the civil and family part. She was previously a judicial intern for the Honorable Yolanda C. Rodriguez, J.S.C. of the Camden County Superior Court of New Jersey and the Honorable Daniel A. Flores, of the Superior Court of California County of San Francisco, both handling family matters. Verna has concentrated her experience on family law matters and is dedicated to providing meaningful representation for children and families.
Verna is a member of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey, the Hudson County Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association, and the New Jersey State Bar Association.
